Affiliate Products – Selling What You Are Passionate About
February 5, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Affiliate products are products that belong to other people (products that they have created) which they allow you to promote. Promotions of the product leading to sales by the product owner earns you commission, usually 50% - 75%.
Affiliate products on the internet gives website owners and bloggers the opportunity to integrate useful products into their content that their visitors will want to buy. All the webmaster does is include a link to the sales page of the product owner. All the selling is then handled by them on their own site. If a visitor which you have referred decides to buy the product, you get the commission. That means minimum effort and maximum earnings for the referring webmaster! The transactions are usually handled by an independent affiliate company, so if you work through a reputable company to find affiliate products to promote you can be absolutely certain of receiving your checks of the products “you have sold” in the mail like clockwork. Because of this system there is almost no way for the product owners to con you out of commissions that rightfully belong to you because or customers you have referred.
This all sounds so amazing – like a webmasters Utopia if you will. You just include links and get paid. This is a bit over simplified. Like anything in life the more smart effort you put into promoting the product, the better you will do. A great review by a trusted webmaster means more than just a pretty banner on your website. To give great reviews of products other people sell you need to research their product a bit and write your own short sales page. To do this effectively you need to be passionate about the products and particular niche in which you are promoting products.
If you are passionate about the products you are promoting, you are likely to write more energetic reviews about the particular product. If you are excited about the product you are promoting, chances are also that you are going to excite your visitors to a point where they feel they have to visit the product owner to see exactly what is getting you so excited. If you accomplish this then your work is done. You have referred a customer and now it will be up to the product seller to clinch the deal so you can get paid. It is very difficult to get other people excited about something that doesn’t excite you and inspire your passion at all.
Passion for a certain product is very easy to pick up from someone promoting the product. If passion to sell the product is lacking it will be like trying to sell ice to an Eskimo. If passion for the product shows then promoting a product will feel like it is no effort at all.
But what if you do not want to write reviews for other peoples products? Well, then you don’t have to. You started your online business to break free from any constraints, to do what you want to do when you want to do it so don’t give up on your dream. If you are just going to include a link or banner to the website selling the product, be sure to place it in an eye catching place. It should make your visitors wonder what that link offers a doorway to. You want to pique their interest so they go visit the product seller and buy that product so you can get a bigger paycheck at the end of the month.
Even though you do not have to “pre-sell” the product on your website, doing so will greatly increase your success rate. This is especially true if you have a lot of visitors that trust the content you deliver. What you are doing is endorsing the product of someone else. You are warming up the customer to the product that you are promoting. Most affiliate product owners are very professional and write amazing sales letters, but it is sometimes a short endorsement or review by the referrer that seals the deal and makes the seller and promoter a lot of money.
There is a psychological aspect to back up pre-selling. By pre-selling a product and then referring the customer you are creating a subconscious message in their brain that this particular product is so great that you are willing to refer a customer away from your own site. This is of course not true, you are simply referring the customer to one of your “sales branches”. But it is the perception that you are creating that is important and that will make sure you realize your dreams of wealth on the world wide web.
If you are a blogger, writing passionate reviews for affiliate products can be particularly useful. Why? Because we all know on the internet content is king and we all from time to time hit a creative barrier where we don’t have a clue what to write about on our blogs. An easy way to break past this barrier is by reading the sales pages of affiliate products. You broaden your own scope of reference as these sales pages usually contain some very interesting information, learn some real great sales techniques and will have tons to write when you are done reading – You thus get free sources to create content for your blog and you even get to make tons of money doing this. Talk about a great deal!

Multi-Level Marketing versus Affiliate Marketing
January 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Multi-Level Marketing or MLM provides you with two ways to earn a profit. The first method is the selling of products. You become the distributor and sell products purchased either through your website or from you directly.
The second way to earn a profit is to recruit other people to be part of your downline; you earn a small portion of money from them as well as any from any of the products you sell.
The people you recruit then recruit people into their downline and you also earn a portion of the sales and on it goes down the line. Some companies have put a stop where it will go 9-12 levels deep, sometimes even further.
What scares most people about MLM is the fine line between legitimate and scam. One of the easiest ways to tell the difference is if the main purpose of the program is for you to only recruit people, then that’s not a good sign. The reason being if everyone continues to recruit, soon there will be too many people and nothing to sell, and no profit margin.
Some good examples of legitimate MLM (although they don’t like to be thought of with that term) companies would be Strong Future International, WAH Powermall, or Savings Highway. With each of these companies there are products to purchase at a discount, you can recruit people for your “downline”, and your earn commissions from each level of your downline. There are no requirements for a minimum purchase to promote these programs.
An affiliate marketer is very similar to anyone in MLM. Unlike MLM, however, affiliate marketing is selling a product once, getting paid once. There is no downline for the actual products. Therefore, there are not residual incomes.
An exception would be, if someone signed up with an affiliate network (this is a site that lists companies that would like you to sell their products), under you the affiliate marketer, then you would earn a portion of whatever that person promotes. This creates the residual income, and multiple streams of income.
As an affiliate marketer you work for a wide variety of companies, rather than just one. You will get paid through the affiliate network site the amount that is posted when you sign up for the program. Usually you are paid within 30 days of any purchase, sometimes every two weeks.
It is vital that you have your own website, as you will need somewhere to promote the companies that you wish to promote. Most affiliate sites will not accept you as a customer unless you have your own domain and website. So there is a small investment.
You can be both an affiliate marketer and work MLM and have the best of both worlds.

How to Make Money from Home through Affiliate Marketing
January 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment
If you want to make money from home or from anywhere you wish, affiliate marketing may be your best shot. Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to earn money online today. It is how many Internet entrepreneurs earn hundreds a month, and are continually earning at this very moment. The concept of affiliate marketing stems from the fact that the Internet has turned into a very commercial medium.
But what exactly is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is a way to make money from home wherein you help a company or a site in their marketing efforts. Affiliate marketing is a smart and promising way of doing business online without having to invest a dime. You, as the affiliate only have to come up with your own campaign to advertise the product or the site to its prospective customers. This can be as simple as putting a link on your website or as elaborate as generating thousand visitor impressions a month into the merchant’s site.
The main goal of every business, whether online or offline, is to bring more customers into their place of business, inform them about products and services and convince them to avail them. As an affiliate marketer, your main objective is to help bring customers into their merchant’s site, in exchange for referral fees and commissions for sale and for a specific set of impressions.
Now that you have learned exactly what affiliate marketing is all about, here are some ideas to help you get started with and succeed in affiliate marketing. Essentially, what you need to do is to look for an excellent merchant that offers excellent affiliate programs. It will help if you choose one that covers a niche that you are familiar with. You can try out two or three affiliates at the same time for now, and add more once you get a hang of it.
The real process involved for you to make money from home is the posting of affiliate ads and banners in sites where people can easily see and access. First, you should have a site where you will put all your affiliate ads in. Many of those who make money from home find it most convenient to have a blog. Creating your own blog will not only allow you to express your ideas, but also provides an excellent channel to promote your affiliate merchants all you want. You can also try posting at classified ad sites, online communities or forums, and take advantage of comment and post box sites that are everywhere in the Internet.
Serious affiliate marketers do not only stop at posting to make money from home. You can write articles about your affiliate and submit them to article directories, or even mention it in their eBook projects. It will also help if you give away promotions and attractive offers to convince visitors to visit your affiliate merchant site.
To make money from home through affiliate marketing and succeed, it is important that you choose the right merchant(s) and the right marketing strategy that best fits. Though many affiliate marketers do earn even with no-brainer strategies, big money only comes to those who exert effort and time into their affiliate programs.
Break free from the mundane, low paying job and go for something more worth your while. To help you get started, visit Make Money from Home or Make Money at Home now.

Affiliate Marketing: The Good, The Bad, The Profitable
January 14, 2008 | Leave a Comment
How Did It All Begin?
Fours years after the birth of the World Wide Web affiliate marketing came along. Cybererotica, an adult site, was one of the earliest to use affiliate marketing, with a cost per click program. In 1994 CDNow launched BuyWeb and become one of the first non-adult sites with an affiliate program. In 1996 Amazon launched its affiliate program.
Amazon associates placed banners and text links on their sites for books or direct links to Amazon’s home page. When a purchase was made, the associate received a commission for that sale. Amazon now has one of the most widely known affiliate programs and serves as a model for other merchants wishing to use affiliate programs as a marketing tool.
What Exactly Is Affiliate Marketing?
Simply put, affiliate marketing is making money (or commissions) selling other people’s goods or services.
The advantage of affiliate marketing is that you do not have to deal with inventory, shipping, or refunds. You also get to work at home and can set your own hours. But in order to profit from affiliate marketing you must be organized, focused, and patient.
The disadvantage of affiliate marketing is that as the internet has grown so has the number of affiliate programs, therefore creating more competition for customers. There are literally thousands of programs out there offering every kind of good and/or service imaginable. The key thing to remember is that it will probably not happen over night; it will take some effort.
What Type of Programs Are Out There?
Generally, affiliate programs come in 3 forms: pay per sale, pay per lead, and pay per click. They can be flat fee or commission based and sometimes have single, double, or multi tiers.
The most common type of affiliate program is commission based. They are usually pay per sale programs and pay a predetermined percentage commission to the affiliate for sales of products or services sold on his or her site.
Less common are the flat fee referral programs, which pay an affiliate a predetermined amount for every purchase or transaction on the merchant’s site. They usually operate on a per-sale or per lead basis.
Pay-per-Click or click-through programs pay a small fee for every visitor to a targeted site, usually $.01 to $.20 per visitor.
Affiliate programs can also have different tiers. Single-tier programs offer commission for affiliate generated transactions only. There is no reward for signing up other affiliates. Two-tier programs offer commissions and rewards for affiliate generated transactions and for recruiting new affiliates to the program. Multi-tier programs offer affiliates rewards for signing up new affiliates several levels deep.
How Do I Find the Right Program for Me?
To make a profit it will take some hard work, the right mind-set, and perseverance. You must treat this as a business, not a hobby and give customers a reason to click on your site’s banners and links.
Some tips for finding the right program:
1. Research before you join. Look at the FAQs. Find out what the program pays for as well as how much and how often it issues checks. Also find out what the minimum amount you can earn before being paid. Find out how long a program has been in operation and what support will be offered if you join.
2. Choose a program that targets your audience. Study the products that are being offered. Will they appeal to your audience?
3. Give visitors a reason to come back (and to click). Your site must be unique and worth another visit.
Affiliate marketing can be frustrating in the beginning but will be rewarding if you give it time. The longer you stick with it, the more you will learn. You definitely won’t be bored. You might even make a buck or two…

Why should you Cloak Your Affiliate Links.
January 14, 2008 | Leave a Comment
This report is for the people who think they are losing their commissions from altered affiliate Url’s.
An Affiliate is a salesperson that promotes another’s website to make a commission on his/her sales effort for that website. This is both beneficial for both the website owner and the individual sales person. The website owner can have literally have thousand of sales reps at no cost to him. He only pays when those sales reps actually sells his product. The sales rep also is in a good position because he/she has thousands of customers to try to sell to. The website owner issues a affiliate link to the sales person and most of the time promotional materials the sales person can use. The affiliate link is used to track the time of the sale and what was purchased. The sales person then gets a percentage of sales price.
For some reason, I guess to be mean, a user will copy and paste the affiliates url in his browser and then erase the affiliates id. This leads to the affiliate does not getting the sale. The website will get credit for the sale, but some sites rotate their ads so some one else will get the credit. This seams to be quit unfair, so the question is what can we do to mimize losing our sales.
Their are several ways to cloak a affiliates address. One way is to use frames. Frames are easy to setup and you don’t need a website to use them. The problem is you can not use frames with most surfing software like trafficswarm or topsurfer because they are using them. Another thing to watch out for is using the “&” sign. A lot of Ezine will cut the url off at the “&” and now your URL that is ineffective.
In Part 2 We will cover how to do this with two lines of code.
In Part 3 We will add a simple Email Alert routine.

How to Hide Affiliate Links and Increase Commissions
January 12, 2008 | Leave a Comment
Affiliate link hijacking is a big problem, some people will change your affiliate URL to their own before purchasing a product so they themselves get paid the commission giving them a discounted product.
This problem is far worse if you are promoting to the affiliate marketers crowd as they can spot an affiliate link from 100 yards away! They will just replace your affiliate ID with their own and “hijack” your commissions.
Some people just simply hate the thought that you will make a commission from their purchase and will just cut off your affiliate ID at the end of the URL. If you don’t take steps to try and hide your affiliate links from hijackers, then you will carry on losing commissions.
Using a redirect php script
This is an easy technique to implement, all you have to do is create a single php file that includes a small piece of code, so if you are trying to promote www-yourID.merchID.hop.clickbank-net then you way create a blank page called, say, discounts.php that just contains the redirect script, so the actual link you promote would be www-yoursite-com/discounts.
Unfortunately this technique does have one drawback, some affiliate merchant links will still be visible in the browser address bar, it works great with clickbank products.
Using .htaccess to hide links
This is works very much the same as the one above except you don’t need to use any scripts, you just need to add a line of code to your .htaccess file.
As with the redirect script above, just create a blank page and upload it to your server, then add the following line of code to your .htaccess file.
Unfortunately this has the same drawbacks as the redirect script method, your affiliate link may still be visible on the merchants site in the browser address bar.
Using a zero-frame to cloak links
This is the cloaking technique I use most often to hide affiliate links.
Using this method makes it look as if you are sending people to a page on YOUR site, even your URL will be still be visible in the address bar unlike the above cloaking techniques, people will think they are still on your site but they are actually viewing the merchants site.
You simply create a page as mentioned above and insert a few lines of code, I also add a title meta tag to fit the description of the product I’m selling.
However, you MUST test your link before promoting it! This technique can effect the tracking on some sites, so make sure that you will be getting credit for all the traffic you send their way.
How to hide links in a browser status bar.
This technique is used on your website so that when someone hovers over a link, they don’t see the actual destination link in their browser status bar.
So if your actual link was www-affiliateproduct-com/uglyaffiliatelink?123 they would only see www-yoursite-com in their browser.
So there you have it, 4 easy ways to hide or cloak your affiliate links, using these techniques will certainly increase your sales and reduce link hijacking.
If you aren’t using any techniques to hide your affiliate links then I can guarantee that you are losing affiliate commissions! You must protect yourself from these hijackers, the harder you make it for people to recognise an affiliate link, the more commission you will make.

Affiliate Marketing - Earn 5-Figure Income every Month through Internet Affiliate Marketing Program
January 12, 2008 | Leave a Comment
When you go surfing the Internet, you probably have noticed that every website that you visit contains several advertisements and some external links directing to other sites. You will also notice that these advertisements are just attractive enough (for instance, an online advertisement containing heads of Osama bin Laden and George Bush in a girl’s body and asking you to choose who is sexier between them) to convince you to click these advertisements and links and see what is beyond that attractive ad and link.
Once you have clicked ads and links posted to a site, its owner is already making money out of your generous clicks. They are now among the thousands of individuals who are called the great affiliate marketers.
The name of their game is Internet affiliate marketing program, and they are making tens to hundreds of dollars per month. Moreover, there are affiliate marketers who are making a full-time living out of Internet marketing and they are generating a 5-figure income every month.
Such figure is quite unbelievable, but it is the reality of affiliate program. You have the power of earning thousands of dollars each month even if you do not have your own products to sell. All you have to do is to promote the products or services of other affiliates. You are dictating the flow of money that you want and at the same time freeing yourself of worries about customer’s issues, refunds, shipping, and other sales-related aspects. Just attract potential buyers to your website and redirect them to the affiliate link. Once they have purchased the products or services you have endorsed, you will be able to receive commissions from every sale that you have made. You will get paid depending on the percentage agreed upon on the affiliate contract. Basically, the commission that you will receive varies from 10 to 75 percent.
For instance, you are selling a certain product that is worth $67 and the affiliate commission is set at 60 percent. It means that you will get paid $40.20 for every sale that you made from that product. Remember that it is just on a single product alone.
Earning money through affiliate programs is quite simple, considering the fact that you do not have to create the best-selling product, compose the best sales letter to potential buyers, provide after-sales support to customers, handle concerns and problems, and others.
When you sign up for an affiliate program, you will be provided with a special affiliate link with a unique code that will identify if the click on the link actually comes from your affiliate link. You will just copy and paste the code to your web pages, and the promotion will depend on you—whether you will promote it through sending email newsletters, online forums, and on your website.
However, despite of the simplicity in earning through Internet affiliate marketing program, the main concern here is how to be successful in your chosen affiliate program. What you need here is real people—real people who will patronize the affiliate products or services you are endorsing. Once you have failed to draw more people to the assigned affiliate link, your dream of earning a huge 5-figure income in affiliate program will remain to be a dream forever.
To succeed in affiliate programs, you must be aware with the use of affiliate marketing tools. There are several tools you can use and some affiliate companies you are working with will offer some of these tools. You may use attractive webpage banners or online advertisements. These tools will help you achieve success in joining affiliate programs, so do not ever forget them in your priorities.
Remember that your main target here is to drive heavy web traffic towards to your site that will click on the affiliate link provided in your web pages. Promotional tools such as free article directories and writing weblogs are just a few of the latest additions in promoting affiliate sites. Provide initial yet useful information about the products or services you are endorsing for sale, and use the power of words to attract them to visit your affiliate link. In this way, you will be able to attract more potential buyers to your site and possibly give you the commission you are longing for.
Be one of thousands of affiliate marketers who have earned more than what you can expect by maximizing your ability and using effective strategies in your Internet affiliate marketing program.

3 Bad Affiliate Marketing Business Mistakes
January 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment
We have all read articles that are based on the theme of the best of whatever the article is about. We like to read about something that we think will help us be the best. We are going to take a different approach in this article as we look at an affiliate marketing business and why people fail.
In this article we will look at 3 mistakes you can make when it comes to working with your affiliate marketing business. Not so much specific businesses, but more general ideas to avoid when you first get started.
1. Starting a portal website is not the best way to get started in affiliate marketing. A portal website sells many different types of products as opposed to specializing in just one. Cars would be an example of a broad theme and a narrow theme would be car parts. And even more narrow theme would be Cadillac car parts.
The mistake that people make is they try to sell to many different things, as opposed to specializing when they first start out in their affiliate marketing business.
2. Another mistake people make is they do not choose a market that can be profitable for them. The best way to make money with affiliate marketing is to identify a problem, determine that people are seeking ways to solve that problem, and then help them do it.
An example of that would be how to stop sweating. This is a problem that many people face, and you could sell an information product that helps them deal with that. Clickbank offers e-books that you can sell and earn commissions on. You could find a stop sweating ebook to sell from them.
3. One of the most common affiliate marketing business mistakes is using the replicated website that comes from the merchant. Many times this is bad for you because the sales copy of the affiliate website is poor. Another reason you do not want to do that is you are not differentiating yourself from the thousands of other affiliates using the exact same website.
One way to sell more products in affiliate marketing is to try and be different. Creating your own website and putting your personal testimonial on it is a much better way to make money selling their products.
These are three of the worst mistakes you can make with your affiliate marketing business. If you want to be successful you must create a narrow theme website, solve people’s problems, and do it with your own website. Only then will you have a chance to make money selling other people’s products.
